The SuperNova is a microprocessor controlled, fully programmable, peak detection rapid charger/discharger that has 10 user definable memories for storing battery configuration charger/discharger parameters. Features programmable, self-limiting charge rates 0.5-5A, self-limiting discharge rates for 0.5-3A, peak detection/zero current voltage check, post charge trickle charge and a two line, LCD display. The SuperNova can charge or discharge from 1-25 cell NiCads or 1~6 cell Lead Acid batteries with ease. Measures 142 x 90 x 38mm. If you're in no particular hurry your packs to be charged, the auto function is ideal as it's entirely sympathetic to your flight batteries and in most cases won't run at much above 1 x C (i.e.; if charging a 2000RC pack, it won't charge at much above a 2A rate). As is clearly specified in the instructions, however, the automatic mode is not recommended for NiMH cells, and definitely not suitable for lead-acid (Pb) batteries. It's refreshing to find a manufacturer that recognises that different types of cell require different treatment, rather than simply generalising, isn't it? TAKING CONTROL Manual's the way to go for rapid field charging, when you want to fast-charge your packs in just 20 minutes (i.e. up to 3 x C, the maximum rate at which a fast-chargeable Nicad should be recharged). The SuperNova has 10 charging modes for different types of pack, and different cell counts. These modes are initially set in the factory, but as the instructions don't list the available modes you'll have to get involved in some button-pressing and go through them one at a time to see if any suit your requirements. If not, the modes can be adjusted to your own spec' by specifying the type of battery (NiCad, NiMH or Pb), the capacity in milliamps, the number of cells, and the required charge / discharge rate. This allows the SuperNova to make sure that the charge given to your flight pack is both appropriate and safe. During some of these set-up procedures, the LCD display jumps between two and sometimes three different screen menus, which can be confusing. On the plus side, however, you can set up a pair of adjacent charge and discharge memories for each specific type of battery you use, which helps to cut down on the button- pressing a little in future. Ripmax Pro Peak Supernova charger? Hello all. _Manual_LR.pdf. but the Pro Peak has an integrated discharger.
I got a pro-peack supernova of eBay but it doesnt come with manual, can someone run me thropugh how i set it to chage my 14 cell 17.8v 3700 mAh NI-MH battery pack?
Here in the UK the Super Nova 250S comes under the Pro Peak banner and is sold through. more than a well written re-write of the original manual.
